Colorado State is off to an excellent start this season and has had some big wins. Several junior college transfers have helped guide the Rams this year.

Many mid and high major programs that don't consistently sign top 50 high school prospects have found much success by signing junior college and D1 transfers. These programs are getting older, stronger and more mature players that are usually able to come in and contribute immediately. This method has been used by Wichita State among others.

The Colorado State roster is sprinkled with a mixture of D1 and JUCO transfers, and the Rams have had plenty of success using this model. They now sit at 14-0 after a win over Boise State and are ranked in the Top 25 of the AP Poll.

Players like Gian Clavell (NW Kansas Tech) and Stanton Kidd (South Plains/NC Central) have made heavy contributions on both ends. Kidd is second on the team in points per game at at 12.2 and is also averaging 5.5 rebounds per game through the first 14 games. Clavell is averaging nearly 10 points per game, which is good for fourth on the team.
