NW Florida State head coach Steve Demeo was able to guide his team to an NJCAA D1 National Championship in his second year at the helm. The Raiders knocked off South Plains 83-80 in an overtime win last night.

NW Florida had plenty of close games throughout the tournament and the National Championship Game was no different. It was a back and forth battle from the opening tip until South Plains’ final possession.

NW Florida State guards' Benji Bell and Brandon Austin did an excellent job of carrying the load and making big shots. Austin finished with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks on the night, while Bell finished with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Austin was named NJCAA National Tournament MVP and Bell was named to the All-Tournament Team.

South Plains was led by Emmanuel Omogbo’s 21-point/10-rebound performance. Omogbo, a Colorado State signee, is one of the best rebounders in JC basketball and consistently fills the stat sheet with double doubles.
