JUCO Products That Excelled During Opening Week (Wed-Mon)

College basketball is back! It was great to see so many former Junior College players excelling at the next level. There have been great performances from JUCO players at all levels of NCAA basketball. It will be great to see many more when all teams are able to compete. Here is a look at some former JUCO Products that performed exceptionally well in the opening week of NCAA action (Wed-Monday).

 

6’7 G Javonte Perkins (Southwestern Illinois) of Saint Louis – Perkins was recently named A-10 Player of Week after helping Saint Louis start the season 2-0. Perkins is averaging 27 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 3.5

6’5 G RayQuawndis Mitchell (Otero JC) & 6’10 F Braelen Bridges (Northwest Florida) of UIC – UIC has started 2-0 with wins over Northern Illinois and Central Michigan. JUCO products Mitchell and Bridges have helped. Bridges is averaging 13.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg. Mitchell is averaging 17.5 ppg and 3.5 rpg while shooting 54% from 3. Mitchell was just named Horizon Player of Week

6’5 G Quenton Jackson (College of Central FL) of Texas A&M – Texas A&M has only had 1 game but Jackson made sure to set a tone to start the season. He had 28 pts, 7 rebs, 3 stls and 2 asts in win 82-53 against New Orleans

6’3 G Sean McNeil (Sinclair CC) & 6’4 G Taz Sherman (Collin County) of West Virginia – West Virginia has started the season 3-0 with wins over South Dakota State, VCU and Western Kentucky. McNeil is averaging 13.7 ppg and Sherman is averaging 11.7 ppg

6’2 G Chris Childs (Indian Hills) of Bryant – Childs was great in Bryant’s opening game against Syracuse. He was 5-9 from 3 and finished with 18 pts and 2 rebs

6’6 G Teddy Allen (Western Nebraska) of Nebraska – Nebraska has started 2-1 this season with the help of Allen who is averaging 17.7 pts, 6 rebs and 4.3 stls

6’2 PG Malik Curry (Palm Beach State) of Old Dominion – Thru 2 games so far he is averaging 20.5 ppg, 4.5 asts and 3.5 rebs

6’5 G Vince Cole (USC Salkehatchie) of St Johns – Cole has helped St Johns start 3-0 with wins over Saint Peters, LaSalle and Boston College. Cole is averaging 16 ppg and 3 rpg thru 3 games

6’0 G Shahada Wells (Tyler JC) of UT Arlington – Thru 3 games, Wells reputation as a scorer has translated to the NCAA level. He is averaging 18 ppg, 5 rpg and 3 spg

6’6 G Setric Millner Jr (Northwest Florida) of Toledo – Thru 3 games, Millner is averaging 15 ppg and 10 rpg while shooting 50% from 3

6’6 Wing Trey Diggs (Northwest Florida) of Bowling Green – Diggs has helped Bowling Green to a 2-1 start. He is averaging 16 ppg while shooting 52% from 3

6’7 F Douglas Wilson (Kirkwood CC) of South Dakota State – South Dakota State has played a tough schedule so far but thru 3 games, Wilson is averaging 14 ppg and 5 rpg

6’5 G/F Marlon Ruffin (Highland CC) of Nebraska Omaha – Thru 3 games, Ruffin is averaging 16.3 ppg and 3.7 rpg

6’3 G Devante Carter (Odessa) of Norfolk State – Carter has helped Norfolk State start 2-0 this season with wins over James Madison and Radford. Carter is averaging 13.5 ppg, 5 rpg and 3.5 apg

6’3 G John Knight (Southwest Miss CC) of Southern Utah – Thru 2 games, Knight is averaging 15.5 ppg, 8 apg and 3 rpg

6’5 G Amin Adamu (Casper College) & 6’9 F Jubrile Belo (Lamar CC) of Montana State – Montana State had a good opening win to start season over UNLV. Aminu had 14 pts and 6 asts while Belo had 14 pts and rebs in that 91-78 win

6’3 G Isaac Bonton (Casper College) of Washington State – Thru 2 games Washington State is 2-0 while Bonton is averaging 19.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 2.0 apg

6’3 G Josiah Strong (Iowa Western CC) of Illinois State – Thru 2 games, Strong is averaging 18 ppg and 3 rpg while shooting 46% from 3

6’1 G Ty Gadsden (Vincennes) of UNC Wilmington – Gadsden has helped Wilmington start 2-1. He is averaging 14.3 ppg while shooting 40% from 3

6’5 G Josiah Wallace (Olney Central) of Eastern Illinois – Eastern Illinois has had tough schedule to start season playing Marquette and Wisconsin. Wallace is averaging 18.5 ppg and 4 rpg so far

5’10 G Darrion Trammell (CC of San Francisco) of Seattle – Seattle is 3-1 to start the season. Trammell is averaging 18.3 ppg, 5.8 apg and 4 rpg
