Northeast Oklahoma A&M (NEO) is the Team of The Week for the week of December 4-11, 2022.  Coach Jeremy Jackson’s NEO squad picked up 3 wins heading into the holiday break, none bigger than knocking off NJCAA #1 Indian Hills on their home floor 87-82 in overtime of the Hy-Vee Classic this weekend.

The Norseman started their week on the road at Oklahoma Wesleyan where they came away with a 96-73 win.  Always Wright finished with 25 pts on 5/7  shooting from 3 to help pick up NEO’s 5th road win of the season.  The game was a precursor for a big weekend ahead in Ottumwa, IA at the Hyvee-Classic.  Their two-game slate included an opening night victory vs Northeast CC, where they used their uptempo style to outlast NECC 98-95.  Julian Mackey racked up 30 pts, going 7/14 from 3pt land and collecting 4 steals along the way.  TJ Morris (24 pts 4/7 3pt) & Wright (18 pts, 6 assists, 6 rebs) chipped in to give NEO their eleventh win of the season, and their 10th in a row.

The momentum carried into what would be the Norseman’s toughest contest of the year against the host Indian Hills, who currently sits at #1 in the NJCAA rankings.  In a tight contest throughout, NEO outlasted IHCC in overtime to secure a resume-building win.  Boasting one of the strongest backcourts in the country, NEO got 28 pts from Mackey, and 20 pts from Morris to upend a very talented Indian Hills group.  Mackey, Wright, and Morris proved to be strong enough to do what many have unsuccessfully tried to do in winning in Ottumwa, IA.  The win completed the fall schedule for Coach Jackson’s squad, and no doubt gives them momentum heading into conference play after the break.
