Many junior college teams around the U.S. are halfway through their season and will be entering conference/regional play beginning in early January (some JC’s have played several conference games already). Conference play is when things always fall into place in the junior college season as many teams haven’t been tested in the first half of the season. Before conference play begins, here is a look at the top junior college teams from around the country.

NJCAA D1

Vincennes is sitting at #1 again in the most recent NJCAA poll and is currently 14-0. They play SCORE Academy on January 3rd and John A. Logan on January 7th. Vincennes has a deep group of talented sophomores that will be tough to beat.

Head coach Steve Demeo has the NW Florida State Raiders firing on all cylinders and is getting plenty of production from sophomores Brandon Austin, Jalen Jackson and Benji Bell. The Raiders are sitting at #2 in the NJCAA poll and are currently 14-0.  NW Florida will play Georgia Perimeter on Dec 29 and East Georgia on Dec 30. They open their conference play at Tallahassee CC on Jan 3rd.

The College of Southern Idaho is currently 16-0/3-0 in conference play and is ranked #3 in the country entering the second half of the season. CSI has a tough 3 game stretch to open their January schedule. They head Snow College on Jan 8, #4 Salt Lake CC on Jan 10 and North Idaho College on Jan 17. Western Kentucky signee Fred Edmond is leading the way for CSI scoring 20ppg.

Salt Lake CC is #4 in the latest NJCAA poll and is 13-0/3-0. They play three games in the Fiesta Bowl JC Shootout at Mesa CC, which begins on December 27. Sophomore Desean Parsons is averaging 15 points per game for Salt Lake.

Butler CC (KS) is off to an excellent start at 14-0 and is currently sitting at #5 in the latest poll.

Five vey talented teams round out the NJCAA D1 top 10. Indian Hills, Hill College, Hutchinson CC, SW Tennessee CC and Coffeyville CC will all look to crack the top 5 in January.

Pearl River CC and Jones County CC are the only other unbeaten teams, besides the top 5 teams, at the NJCAA D1 level.
