WVU has offered one JC prospect and has their eye on several more

West Virginia has had success  dipping into the JUCO ranks in the recent years with Bob Huggins at the helm ,and they seem to be looking in that direction again for the 2015 class. WVU has really picked up their recruiting interest in JUCO prospects over the past month or so.

WVU seems to be looking at forwards and point guards in the JUCO ranks and they are pursuing multiple prospects at each position. They were one of the first schools to show heavy interest and offer Torren Jones, a 6'8 forward at Midland College in Texas. Jones, a transfer from Missouri, is having an excellent year averaging 18.8 points and 11.1 rebounds per game while shooting 58% from the field. Jones also has an offer from Colorado with many other mid and high major programs pursuing him. WVU looks to be in good shape with Jones, but will have to battle plenty of schools over the next month or two.

Along with Jones they have shown recent interest in Motlow St forward D'Andre Downey. Downey is 6'9 and has great length and mobility. He runs the court very well and changes the game on the defensive end.

At the point guard position, WVU has shown interest in two players recently.  Mike Rodriguez, a 5'10 point guard at Marshalltown CC. Rodriguez is a Boston, MA native and played travel basketball with BABC, a high level Nike program based in Boston. Rodriguez doesn't have much size and doesn't have a huge frame, but he makes up for it with his quickness, toughness and ability to handle the ball and change speeds. He is explosive and fearless when attacking the rim and has the ability to score the ball. He is averaging 23 points per game, 6.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds this season through 19 games.

WVU has also been looking at Dequon Miller, a 5'10 point guard, who also plays at Motlow State. Miller is similar in many ways to Rodriguez of Marshalltown and Miller is a native of West Virginia. He was named Honorable Mention All American last season as a freshman and is averaging 18 ppg this season.

We will update any changes or offers with WVU and their JC targets.
