Many big name JUCO prospects began to fly off the board last week and many more will follow in the near future. Wichita State had a huge week dipping into the JC ranks and snatching Cleanthony Early (2012/Sullivan CC) and Earl Watson (2013/Chipola College). Early (pictured), a 6-8/215-pound forward, will be a huge addition for the Shockers next season.  He is hands down one of the best junior college players in the country. Early brings the total package on both ends. At 6-foot-8 he is very skilled and has a fluid game that mixes well with his length and athletic ability. Watson is a 6-7/240-pound forward who will be part of Wichita’s 2013 class. He spent last season at Queen City Prep and will spend the next two years at Chipola.

Waverly Austin confirmed over the phone that he has narrowed his list down to four. The four schools still in the running are Miami (FL), South Florida, Florida and Kansas. Austin took an unofficial visit to Miami on Saturday and plans to return in the near future to take an official visit. He will take an official visit to South Florida this weekend and will visit Kansas during their midnight madness. Austin will finalize his official visit to Florida in the near future as well.

Two 2012 California JUCO prospects made their decisions last week as well. Dashawn Gomez, a 6-2 point guard out of Antelope Valley CC, gave Iona a verbal after his visit. Gomez is a very good pick up for the Gaels. He is a strong point guard who can get to the basket and finish with contact. He really likes to sit down and get into people on the defensive end as well.  Tim Johnson, a lighting-quick/athletic point guard out of LA Trade Tech, will head to Idaho next season.

Nebraska got a verbal commitment from Jerran Young, a 2012 prospect out of McLennan CC (TX). Young is a 6-foot-5 guard who averaged 10 points per game last season as a freshman.

Liberty received a verbal commitment from Chad Donley, a 6-1 shooting guard out of NW Florida State College. Donley committed during his official visit over the weekend. Liberty is getting an excellent shooter in Donley.
