By Brad Winton, JuCo Recruiting, 05/20/12, 11:45AM EDT

The final day of the signing period (National Letter of Intent) was last Wednesday (although players can still commit and sign a grant-in-aid scholarship throughout the summer). Here is a look at the latest signings in the JUCO world:

Samford’s new staff was able to hit the ground running and pick up a great addition in Pat Swilling Jr. of College of Southern Idaho. Swilling, who is the son of former NFL player Pat Swilling Sr., averaged 12.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game this season for CSI. Swilling helped guide CSI to a National Tournament appearance this season.

Another player from a National Tournament team flew off the board last week. Anthony Banks of Monroe College (NY) signed with Longwood. Banks averaged 8.5 points and nearly 6 rebounds per game. Banks is the fifth player from Monroe to sign with a D1 school this season.

Two South Suburban JC players made commitments last week. Marcus Lewis, an ultra athletic 6-5 wing, signed with Eastern Kentucky. Lewis’ teammate Sultan Muhammad, who strokes the ball from the perimeter, signed with UW-Green Bay.

Malcolm Miller of South Plains College committed to Southern University. Southern is getting a good one. Miller scored 9 points and pulled in 5 rebounds per game for the undefeated National Champs. Miller is the seventh member from the South Plains squad to commit to a D1.

Marvin Binney of New Mexico JC is headed to play for the new staff at Duquesne. This a great addition for Duquesne, Binney has three years of eligibility and is a pass first point guard who has the ability to score the ball.

David Wiegmann of Southwestern Illinois JC signed with Albany. Wiegmann is a 6-8 forward who avearged 12 points and 5 rebounds per game.

Eddie Denard of Kirkwood CC signed with the University of New Orleans. Denard is 6-6/230 and averaged 8 points and 8 rebounds for the year.

Mercyhurst NE guard Dejuan McGaughy signed with High Point. The Columbus, OH native averaged 19 points and 5 assists per game this season.
