Salt Lake CC players seeing strong interest heading into National Tournament

Salt Lake Community College has two players committed to D1 schools next year and several others who have wide-spread interest heading into the NJCAA D1 National Tournament in Hutchinson, KS. Salt Lake is 28-4 this season under the guidance of head coach Todd Phillips and has a first round match-up with Eastern Oklahoma State on Tuesday.

Skyler Halford (2013), a 6-2 guard, will play at BYU next season. Halford averages 17.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 3.8 apg while shooting 46% from the field, 42% from three and 92% from the free throw line. Casey Oliverson (2013), a 6-9 forward, is headed to Southern Utah next season and will have three years of eligibility remaining. He is averaging 8 points and 4 rebounds per game this season.

Sai Tummala (6-0/2013) has been offered by Brown, Penn, Binghamton, Drake, Stephen F Austin, Santa Clara, BYU and Nebraska. Colorado State is also showing heavy interest. Tummala is averaging 14.2 points and 6 rebounds per game this season.

Tyrell Corbin (6-0/2013), son of Utah Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin, is averaging 10 points, 4.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game. Corbin transferred to Salt Lake from UC Davis. He is receiving interest from Pepperdine, Fairfield, and Seton Hall.

Salt Lake also has a high major prospect in the 2014 class in Gary Payton II. He is the son of former NBA player Gary Payton.
