Northwest Florida State took care of business in their first week of being ranked at the number one spot.  NW FL beat Pensacola on Wednesday night and beat Chipola last night by a score of 91-71. The Raiders are now 23-0 and have been led by the sophomore trio of Benji Bell (15.4ppg), Brandon Austin (15.6ppg) and Jalen Jackson (17.8ppg).  NW Florida hosts Gulf Coast State and then travels to Tallahassee CC next week.

Vincennes (22-0), the #2 ranked team in the country, also won both games this week to remain unbeaten. VU was ranked #1 in the NJCAA D1 poll throughout the entire season until this week, but that didn’t affect their performance on the court. They knocked off Lakeland earlier in the week (112-82) and beat an always-tough Olney Central team last night (86-75). Mychal Mulder, a 2015 guard, led Vincennes with 17 points while Charles Foster and Jantzen Goodwin had 16 apiece.

The College of Southern Idaho (25-0), currently sitting at #3 in the country, beat Snow College last night by a score of 90-77.  Western Kentucky signee Fredrick Edmond had 19 points and 6 rebounds in the win, and freshman guard Tyson Smith scored 19 as well. CSI is in action again when they host North Idaho on February 7.

Butler CC (KS) lost their first game of the season yesterday at Garden City CC (83-72). Butler was ranked #4 in the country in the most recent NJCAA D1 top 25 poll. They host Hutchinson CC on February 7.  Butler is now 22-1 on the season.

Jones County JC also lost their first game of the season on January 29 against Mississippi Gulf Coast.  Jones County’s winning streak extended back to last season, where they made a post-season run and won the NJCAA D1 National Championship. Jones is now 14-1 on the season.
