Kansas State seems to be looking hard at JUCO prospects in the 2015 class, and their staff has done a very good job of taking a look at some of the top unsigned 2015 JUCO prospects over the past few weeks.

Kansas State seems to be looking at point guards/combo guards and forwards in the 2015 JC class. They are actively recruiting three players from New Mexico JC. Malique Trent is a scoring point guard who sat out last season at Norfolk State. He will have three years to play at the next level. They are also keeping an eye on forwards Cullen Russo and Kimani Jackson. Jackson also red-shirted last season at the D1 level, which means he will have three years of eligibility remaining as well. Russo is extremely skilled and mobile for his size and is at his best in an up-tempo system.

Kansas State watched Cloud County CC point guard, Devon Thomas, this week as well. Thomas is averaging 17.9 points, 6.6 assists and 4 rebounds per game this season and is an athletic guard who can defend multiple positions on the floor. Thomas’ only major downfall on the offensive end is the range on his jumper. He has struggled shooting the ball from the three-point line this year.

K State made their way to Midland College recently to check on multiple prospects including Maurice O’Field and Torren Jones. O’Field and Jones have seen their recruitment heat up during the second half of the season and both are going to have plenty of high-majors to pick from. O’Field is an athletic 6’5 wing who is extremely explosive around the rim. He is averaging 16.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this season.  Jones is a 6’8 forward who is averaging 18.5 points and 11.1 rebounds per game this season.

Kansas State also had some interest in Vincennes forward AJ Patty earlier in the season. Patty has been having a good year for the #2 team in the country. The 6’8 forward is averaging 13 points and 8.6 rebounds per game while shooting 51% from the field.
