NW Florida State is the number one team in the country and is off to an impressive 23-0 start this season under the guidance of second-year head coach, Steve Demeo. A trio of sophomores is guiding the Raiders on the court. Bejni Bell, Jalen Jackson and Brandon Austin are averaging a combined 49 points per game.

Benji Bell, a 6’4 guard, has had an excellent season to date and has shot the ball well from the field and from the three-point line. He is averaging 15.7 points, 5.2 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game this season. Bell is shooting the ball at a 51.1% clip from the field and 47.3% from the three-point line. He is 35th in the country in three-point field goal percentage. Bell has seen his recruitment pick up of late. He has recent interest from a long list of schools including: Purdue, Indiana, Xavier, NC State, Arizona State, East Carolina and Houston.

Jalen Jackson, a 6’6 small forward who transferred in from Central Arkansas, is leading NW Florida in scoring at 17.9ppg. Jackson has been aggressive getting to the rim this season and is shooting 59% from the field on the year. He has offers from Eastern Kentucky, North Carolina Central and Charleston Southern and interest from Washington State, South Carolina, UT Chattanooga and Louisiana Lafayette.

Brandon Austin, who transferred in from the University of Oregon, is one of the top junior college players in the country in the 2015 class. The 6’6 guard, who sometimes plays the point guard position for the Raiders, is a very good scorer and distributor. He is averaging 15.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3 assists per game this season.

We will see where these three players land in the JucoRecruiting.com 2015 Top 100 Rankings when they come out this month.

The Raiders are one win away from clinching the Panhandle Conference regular season title and host Gulf Coast State tonight at 7:30pm CST.
