Mulder discusses what he is looking for at the next level and the three schools that are recruiting him the heaviest

Vincennes guard Mychal Mulder has guided Vincennes to an undefeated record (24-0) and a #2 ranking. Vincennes will most likely be the #1 ranked team in the country next week due to last night’s NW Florida State (current #1) loss.

Mulder, a 6’4 guard in the 2015 class, has had a very good sophomore year to date and is averaging nearly 15 points per game. He is shooting 46% from the field and 46% from the three-point line. Mulder has plenty of range on his jumper and the ability to mix things up on the offensive end. He creates matchup problems because of his high percentage stroke from the three-point line and his ability to get to the rim. Mulder is also one of the better rebounding guards in the country and is averaging 6.8 rpg.

Mulder talked with JucoRecruiting.com about this season and his recruitment.

Mulder explained why Vincennes is off to such a good start.  He said, “We have a winning attitude that carried over from last year. We play hard, together and are disciplined. Most junior colleges have one or two of those, but usually not all three.”

Mulder said that he is mostly interested in style of play and how he fits in when looking at schools at the next level. He said “I like to get up and down the floor and try to keep the game at a high pace. I like teams that create within the offense and have some freedom inside and out.”

Mulder has seen his recruitment steadily pick up throughout the season. He has plenty of quality mid-major offers and has had high-major interest for some time. That high-major interest turned into offers recently as Creighton and Missouri extended scholarships to the Canadian guard.

When asked if he had any leaders or which schools have spent the most time and effort recruiting him, Mulder replied, “Wichita State, Missouri and Creighton are the schools that recruit me the hardest and really stay in contact with me most.” Mulder is still open to other schools, but it seems that those three schools are in the lead right now. Mississippi State is also interested in Mulder, but hasn’t extended an offer yet.

Mulder plans to take his visits after the season, which will most likely be in late March and early April because Vincennes will make the NJCAA D1 National Tournament in Hutchinson, KS. Many JUCO prospects pick up plenty of new interest and offers with a good performance at the National Tournament. Some start their entire recruiting process over after the tournament while others already narrow things down and go with the schools that were recruiting them throughout the season.

Check back soon for updates on Mulder’s recruitment.
