Leading scorers, rebounders, etc in junior college basketball

Jaylen Barford is leading the country in scoring with 28.9 points per game

The junior college basketball season has been underway for three weeks now and its time to take a look at the the nation's statistical leaders in each division of JC basketball. All stats are from NJCAA.org

The top two scorers at the NJCAA D1 level both signed with Arkansas in the November signing period. Jaylen Barford, a 6'4 guard at Motlow State, is leading the country in scoring at 28.9 points per game. Daryl Macon, a 6'2 shooting guard at Holmes CC, is averaging 26.3 points per game and will play the final two seasons of his career at Arkansas alongside Barford.

Colton Weisbrod, a 6’5 guard/forward at Lamar State Port Arthur, is also averaging 26.3ppg and is tied with Macon for the second spot in points per game at the NJCAA D1 level. Weisbrod signed Lamar University during the early signing period.

Alize Johnson, a 6’8 forward at Frank Phillips College, is leading the NJCAA D1 level in rebounds per game. The Missouri State signee is averaging 15.1 rebounds per game to go along with his 14 points per game.

Blinn College point guard, John Dewey, is leading the country in assists per game, distributing out 13 per game through 8 games.

Gillette College forward, Kavell Bigby-Williams, is leading the country in blocks with 7.4 blocks per game. Bigby-Williams is impacting the game in the low post and on the glass as well. He is averaging 15.4 points and 13.3 rebounds per game this season.

We will take a look at the statistical leaders at the NJCAA D2 and D3 levels throughout the week.
