Multiple Offers and Interests for Pensacola State’s Versatile Forward

As more and more NCAA programs continue to space the floor and let players create, versatile forwards that can shoot the ball and put the ball on the floor are in high demand and Harrison Curry, a 6’7 forward, of the Pensacola State Pirates fits that mold. As a result, Curry has already had numerous visitors in the gym throughout the fall recruiting period.  Last season, the forward, from Ann Harbor, MI, proved his ability to shoot the ball at a high level.  In 26 games, Curry averaged 11.3 Ppg and 4.9 Rpg, shooting 32% from 3 while playing a very tough schedule.

Curry has a great release and can really stretch the defense with his ability to shoot the ball. He is capable of putting the ball on the floor to attack the rim and continues to work on his handle.  His best asset besides his ability to shoot the ball is his defense.  Curry is a strong, physical defender that plays extremely hard and takes pride in keeping his man from scoring.

JucoRecruiting.com talked with Curry about his current offers and interests, his plans for any official visits and what he is looking for in a program.  Curry has had 30 plus schools contact him since July and the following schools have given offers: Florida International, James Madison, East Tennessee State, Chattanooga, and Middle Tennessee State.  Other schools that have not provided offers yet but have shown the most interest are: Iona, Louisiana Tech, Towson, NC Greensboro, Arkansas Little Rock, Georgia State, Murray State, Nicholls State, Indiana State and Cornell.

When asked about any planned official visits, Curry stated, “I don’t plan on taking any visits until after this season. I am focused on getting better, winning a conference championship and, hopefully, a National Championship.”  Curry discussed what he was looking for in a program and said he wanted “to go somewhere with a winning tradition” that has “a coaching staff that develops players not only for the season but for the professional level.” Additionally, Curry is seeking a program where he has the opportunity to “be an impact player.”

Look for Curry to have a great year, improving in all of his statistical categories.  You can see Curry and the rest of the Pensacola State Pirates in action at All American Jamboree next weekend at Gulf Coast State College.
