Darius Allen is one of the most athletic and exciting guards in the country.  The 6’4 wing of Palm Beach State had a solid freshman campaign in 16-17 averaging 10.2 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 56.5% from the field and 32.9% from 3.  He has worked tirelessly this summer on his entire game and is an even more confident shooter from the perimeter.  He had an impressive showing in July at the All American Elite 80 making the Top 20 Game and continued this impressive play at Mullen’s Top 100.

Allen is super athletic and plays above the rim.  He has a solid floor game and is consistently improving his shot.  He can defend a variety of positions with his athleticism and strength. He is a great rebounding guard and has the ability to handle the ball up the floor.  He makes it look effortless when he explodes to the rim.  He is aggressive attacking the rim and has a good enough handle break down defenders to create his own shot.  He has shown the ability to make plays off the ball screens and is becoming a great 3 point shooter in a catch and shoot situation.

Head Coach Martin McCann had this to say about Allen: "Darius is young man of high character that has a contagious willingness to learn. After a good Freshman year in rigorous Region 8, he went on to have a great July. His elite athleticism, ability to score the ball at a high level, combined with great academics, has lead him to some terrific opportunities at the next level. Our Coaching staff has truly enjoyed seeing his growth over the past year and are excited to see what his Sophomore season brings."

Hurricane Irma caused all of the Florida schools to close down and the Palm Beach State team evacuated to Tallahassee to get away from the worse of the hurricane.  The original Florida Juco Tour  had to be postponed and so did Allen’s plans.  Allen is now expected to have sit downs with the following schools over the next 7 days:

- West Virginia
- Wichita State
- Baylor
- Kent State
- Gonzaga
- South Florida
- Ole Miss
- Butler
- Western Kentucky
- Iowa State

After visiting with these schools Allen hopes to cut his list to 4-5 schools and set visits shortly after.  He plans to commit to a school and sign in the early period. You can see Allen and the rest of Palm Beach State at the All American Jamboree October 13th-15th in their first scrimmages of October.
