Malik Curry of Palm Beach State is one of the best returning point guards in Junior College.  The 6’1 lefty had impressive numbers as a freshman in 17-18 averaging 19.6 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, 3.9 assists per game and 1.6 steals per game.  Curry is a super quick PG with a knack for getting in the paint and creating for himself and others. He showed the ability to knock down the 3 last season (34.4%) and is looking to improve his percentage this year. He is a great athlete and will explode at the rim in traffic. He is pesky defender and does a great job of keeping his man in front and being disruptive.

Palm Beach is expected to have a talented team this season but is going to be young.  Malik Curry will be relied on even more this upcoming season.  Head Coach Martin McCann said this about Curry “Malik is a penetrating lead guard that lives in the paint and possesses an impressive ability to create his own shot and create opportunities for others. After a solid Freshman campaign on a team that was full of Sophomores, Malik’s role has changed drastically as his Sophomore season approaches. As one of our two returners, Malik will be asked to lead our very young & talented group through the rigors of Region VIII.”

JucoRecruiting.com talked with Curry recently and here are the highlights:

JucoRecruiting.com: What are you biggest strengths on the court?

Curry: Getting to the basket, getting people involved, scoring, and being an extension of the coach when I’m on the floor.

JucoRecruiting.com: What did you work on most this offseason?

Curry: Conditioning, my midrange shot and getting in the weight room more.

JucoRecruiting.com: What are your goals for this season?

Curry: Being the only returning guard, I want to be a leader to the freshman by making sure we are all on the same page as far as working hard and winning.  I want to go to Regionals and then Hutch.

JucoRecruiting.com: What are you looking for in a school?

Curry: I want to go somewhere when I can play.  I want to go to a team where I fit in with the players/coaches on and off the court and build relationships

JucoRecruiting.com: Who has all reached out since the July events?

Curry: I have heard from New Mexico, Wichita State, Missouri State, East Carolina, UCF, Hawaii, New Mexico State, Florida Gulf Coast, and St Louis

Malik Curry is not planning on signing early and will wait till after the season. Curry and his teammates will be playing in the All American Jamboree October 12-14 in Orlando, FL.
