THREE 2027 JUCO COMMITMENTS HEADLINE A BUSY WEEK
It’s been a busy week in the JUCO ranks, with three 2027 prospects making commitments and several others receiving offers or taking visits. Each of the committed players will spend one more season at the JUCO level before joining his new program for the 2027–28 season.
LAMARIOUS WHITE COMMITS TO NEW MEXICO STATE
New Mexico State landed one of the country’s most impressive JUCO prospects in 6-foot-8 Kilgore forward Lamarious White. A strong, physical player who can guard positions one through five, the Texas native averaged 12.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the Rangers last season.
White’s versatility and physical tools should give him a chance to contribute immediately when he arrives in Las Cruces in 2027. Another year of development at Kilgore could make him an even more impactful addition for Jason Hooten and the Aggies.
White’s outstanding play as a freshman continued into the summer at the All-American JUCO Showcase Invitational. He displayed skill on both ends of the floor and a motor that ranks among the best in JC basketball. He visited Jacksonville and held offers from FIU, Louisiana Tech, Lamar, Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, UTRGV, Northwestern State, ULM, and others.
TRAE LEWIS COMMITS TO UMASS
Trae Lewis will bring his explosive athleticism and three-level scoring ability to Amherst in 2027. The Texas native chose UMass after receiving offers from Kennesaw State, UT Arlington, LSU New Orleans, ULM, Louisiana Tech, SEMO, Prairie View A&M, and others.
Lewis averaged 12.9 points per game while shooting 33% from three-point range for Independence Community College last season. He stood out at the All-American JUCO Showcase in Atlanta this summer, showing athletic upside, developing ball skills, and the ability to create his own shot.
UMass finished 17–16 in 2025–26, its first season in the MAC. Lewis should help strengthen the Minutemen’s guard rotation when he joins the program for the 2027–28 season.
KE’BARI LEWIS COMMITS TO OMAHA
Lee College guard Ke’Bari Lewis has committed to Omaha after receiving an offer from the Mavericks in August. A Houston native who transferred from Coffeyville Community College, Lewis drew attention during the summer live period after posting efficient numbers in limited minutes last season.
Lewis will first play a key role for a Lee College team that returns talent at multiple positions and has added promising freshmen. He is set to join Omaha in 2027. The Mavericks finished 16–17 in 2025–26, a year after making the program’s first NCAA Division I Tournament appearance. Chris Crutchfield will look to Lewis to help Omaha return to the Big Dance.
OFFERS AND VISITS ACROSS THE BOARD
JUCO remains a valuable recruiting source for college basketball programs, and several prospects picked up offers or took visits this week. Southern University at Shreveport’s Kalvin Vengeto received offers from Louisiana Tech and UAB. Hampton offered Panola wing Aidan Agnew, who played in the Top 20 Game at the All-American JUCO Showcase in July.
Other prospects hit the road. Hutchinson’s Chudier Dorar visited St. Bonaventure last week, while New Mexico Junior College’s Viktor Lukic-Gavric visited Portland this past weekend.
Two Richard Bland prospects are scheduled to visit Lafayette College on September 29: 6-foot-9 Serbian guard/forward Alek Bihler and 6-foot-8 forward Richard Agbo. Bihler had a strong summer at the All-American JUCO Showcase Invitational, where he displayed his offensive versatility. He has received offers and drawn interest from programs in the American, Atlantic 10, Patriot League, Mountain West, and CAA.
