Dana Altman and the University of Oregon have received  a verbal commitment from Elgin Cook of NW Florida State. Cook, a 6-6 small forward, recently visited Gonzaga and Oregon and still had three official visits remaining, but decided to forgo those remaining visits and commit to Oregon.

Cook, who is the son of former NBA player Alvin Robertson, averaged 15 points and 6 rebounds per game this season while shooting the ball at a 61.4% clip. He was recently named First-Team All Panhandle Conference and was named Conference Freshman of the Year. Cook can play the 2-4 spots on offense and guard the 1-4 on the defensive end. He is a great athlete and a very good defender. He constantly makes plays around the rim. Cook will have three years of eligibility remaining when he arrives in Eugene.

Cook had tons of interest throughout the year and had Gonzaga, VCU, TCU, Arkansas, South Carolina, New Mexico and Illinois recruiting him heavily until he committed.
