Southern Idaho loses first game of season, Vincennes only unbeaten team

Vincennes is now the only unbeaten team in the country and will return to the #1 spot in the NJCAA D1 poll that comes out on Tuesday. VU took care of business on Saturday by beating Shawnee CC by a score of 82-46. Vincennes, now 25-0, was led by Charles Foster’s 26 point (5-6 from the three point line) performance. Mychal Mulder finished with 16 points and AJ Patty had 11 points/9 rebounds. Vincennes has a tough one on their hands on Wednesday when they head to John A. Logan (20-4).

NW Florida State has been sitting at #1 for two weeks and lost their first game of the year 88-86 to Gulf Coast State on Wednesday. NW Florida bounced back with a 99-82 win over Tallahassee CC yesterday. The Raiders are now 24-1 and host Pensacola State on February 14.

The College of Southern Idaho lost their first game of the year 69-68 to North Idaho College. North Idaho was led by Braian Angola-Rodas’ 17 points and Austin Pope’s 10 point/10 rebound performance. CSI, ranked #3 in the country in the most recent poll, is now 25-1 and hosts Colorado NW CC on February 12.

Fourth ranked Hill College easily beat Southwest Christian College 107-75 to move to 24-1 on the year. Marcus Johnson Jr. led all scorers with 29 points and 10 assists and freshman Jemerrio Jones had a triple double with 11 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. Jones is averaging 12.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 7.6 assists on the year and Johnson Jr. is averaging 16.7ppg. Hill plays at Collin County on February 11.

Connors State, the #5 team in the country, beat Redlands CC 76-72 on February 5th to extend their winning streak to 21 games. They play at Northeast Oklahoma A & M tomorrow and host Arkansas Baptist on February 14th.  Sophomore guard Ronnie Boyce is leading Connors State in scoring with 18.3 points per game.
